●Why did you want to study abroad in Japan?／なぜ日本に留学しようと思ったのですか。
I’ve always dreamed of going to Japan, because I’ve liked Japanese anime and culture since I was a kid. Also, my major includes studying Japanese so I wanted to improve my language skills and to experience living in Japan.
子供のころから日本のアニメや文化が好きだったので日本へ行くことは私の夢でした。
●Why did you choose Tokushima University for your studying abroad? / 徳島大学を選んだ理由は何ですか。
It’s one of the universities that my university has Erasmus contract with. There wasn’t any other specific reason.
私の大学とErasmus契約がある大学の一つだったためです。それ以外に特別な理由はありません。
●What subjects have you been studying in your home university?／自国ではなにを勉強していましたか。
English and Japanese, different types of English and Japanese translation, English and Japanese history and literature, English and Japanese morphology and syntax, etc.
英語と日本語の様々なタイプの翻訳、歴史と文学、形態論、統語論などです。
●How did you prepare for studying in Japan?／日本留学に向けてどのような勉強をしましたか。
Most of my preparation included asking students who have already been to Japan what to do, what to bring, how to act, in order to have general idea what to expect.
私の準備の大半は既に日本へ行ったことがある学生に、大まかな見通しを持つために何をするべきか、何を持っていくべきか、どう行動するかを尋ねることでした。
●How was your experience in Tokushima? For example, was there anything that surprised you? / 徳島に来てどうでしたか。例えば、驚いたことはありますか。
I’m very happy with my experience in Tokushima. I like the city, I like the dorm, I like the university and the university staff. I was surprised by the fact that there are so many people I can turn to for help and also that even if I struggle with talking Japanese I can use English with people from the university who can help me.
徳島での経験はとても良かったです。街、寮、大学や大学スタッフが好きです。実際に沢山の方に助けてもらい、私が日本語を話すのに苦労しているときも大学では助けてくれるので英語を使用できました。
●Have you used the Culture Lounge while you are in TU? How did you like using Culture Lounge? / 徳島大学ではカルチャー・ラウンジは利用しましたか。また、利用してどうでしたか。
I have used the Culture Lounge. I think it’s very pleasant and convenient.
カルチャーラウンジは使用しました。とても快適で便利だと思います。
●How was your learning experience with courses at TU?／徳島大学での勉強（受講）はどうでしたか。
I enjoyed every single class I signed for. I really liked the teachers too. They were all very kind and supportive.
登録したすべての科目を楽しめました。先生方も本当に好きです。とても親切でサポートしてくれました。
●Are there any big differences with student life in Tokushima and the country where your university is? / 学生生活について、日本と自国では大きな違いがありますか。
There are some differences. In my university, depending on the teacher usually class attendance is not as important as in Tokushima, tests and final exams make up most of the grades so students can afford to miss classes more frequently. Also, I felt like classes in Tokushima university made me much more interactive during class compared to my university. Also, dormitories in Japan are much cleaner and offer much more utilities than in Bulgaria.
いくつか違いがあります。私の大学では、教員によりますが、たいてい授業出席は徳島大学ほど重要ではありません。テストや期末テストが成績評価を占めるので学生は授業を頻繁に欠席しています。また、徳島大学の授業は私の大学と比べてよりインタラクティブだと感じました。また、日本の寮はブルガリアよりも清潔で設備も整っています。
●What experience gave you strongest impact during your stay in Japan or in Tokushima? / 日本（徳島）での生活で一番印象深いものは何ですか。
I did already have some knowledge on Japanese society and culture but still what had the strongest impact for me was the difference in mindsets and social interactions and behaviors in Japan compared to my country.
日本の社会や文化に関していくらか知識はありましたが、私の国と比べて日本での考え方や社会的交流や行動の違いに強い衝撃がありました。
●What is your goal in the future?／将来の目標は何ですか。
My goal for now is to go back to my country and find a job that would let me make enough money to care for myself. Maybe a job that includes English or Japanese.
今の私のゴールは私の国に帰って自立できる十分なお金を稼ぐことができる仕事を見つけることです。多分、英語や日本語をつかう仕事です。
●Could you leave advice to students who want to study abroad from Tokushima or thinking of studying in Tokushima from your home school? / 留学を考えている学生に向けてアドバイスをお願いします。
My advice for both – students from Tokushima who want to study abroad and students from my country who want to study in Japan, is to not let cultural differences intimidate them and to let themselves experience diversity while they have the chance.
