●Why did you want to study abroad in Japan?／なぜ日本に留学しようと思ったのですか。
Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by Japanese culture. I’ve always dreamed of visiting Japan and experiencing its unique lifestyle firsthand. I also have a passion for languages, so studying abroad in Japan feels like the perfect opportunity to bring my language skills to life and immerse myself in a culture I’ve admired for so long.
幼い頃から日本の文化に魅了されていました。日本を訪れその独特ライフスタイルを直接体験することを夢見ていました。また、言語にも情熱を持っていたので日本への留学は長年憧れてきた文化に没頭し日本語力を生かすための絶好の機会だと感じました。
●Why did you choose Tokushima University for your studying abroad? / 徳島大学を選んだ理由は何ですか。
One of my seniors from my program at Lund University spent a year studying at Tokushima University and shared so many wonderful stories about her experience there. Hearing her made me realize that Tokushima would be the perfect place for me, too. Also, I also met exchange students from Tokushima at Lund and became good friends with them, which made me even more excited to study there and spend more time together in their home university.
ルンド大学の私の先輩が徳島大学で1年間留学し、そこでのたくさんの素晴らしい話や経験を共有してくれました。その話を聞いていると徳島は私にとっても完璧な場所だと思いました。また、徳島大学からの交換留学生にルンド大学で会い、彼らと親しくなったことで、彼らの母校で一緒に時間を過ごし勉強したいとより一層思うようになりました。
●What subjects have you been studying in your home university?／自国ではなにを勉強していましたか。
My major is Japanese linguistics at Lund university, and it consists of Japanese language courses, and history courses of Japan and China. I have also studied a course in Swedish grammar.
ルンド大学での専攻は日本言語学で、日本語の授業と、日本と中国の歴史の授業で構成されています。また、スウェーデン語の文法も履修しました。
●How did you prepare for studying in Japan?／日本留学に向けてどのような勉強をしましたか。
Before coming to Japan, I focused on improving my Japanese by studying grammar, kanji, and vocabulary. I also researched Tokushima and the Shikoku region to get to know the area better and plan how I wanted to spend my exchange year. Thanks to that, I arrived in Japan with both excitement and a clear idea of what I wanted to experience and learn.
日本に来る前は文法、漢字と単語による日本語の上達に力を注ぎました。また、徳島や四国地方についてよく調べて理解し、自分の交換留学期の１年をどう過ごすか計画しました。そのおかげで日本で何を経験して何を学びたいか期待と明確な考えをもって来ることが出来ました。
●How was your experience in Tokushima? For example, was there anything that surprised you? / 徳島に来てどうでしたか。例えば、驚いたことはありますか。
I really enjoyed my time in Tokushima! Before arriving, I’d heard from friends that it was a “small” city, but it turned out to be much bigger and more vibrant than I expected. You can feel the energy of the city around Tokushima Station, yet just a short five-minute bike ride from Kuramoto takes you into peaceful nature, that contrast really surprised me.
One thing I especially loved was how you can always see Mt. Bizan wherever you go; it became a comforting and memorable part of my daily life. Besides meeting incredible friends I’ll never forget, I also got to experience the famous Awa Odori festival Since it’s such an important part of Tokushima’s identity, I felt truly grateful to be part of that celebration as a spectator.
本当に徳島で楽しい時間を過ごすことが出来ました！来る前は友達から「小さい街」だと聞いていましたが、想像していたより活気のある大きい街でした。徳島駅周辺では街の活気を感じますが、蔵本から自転車で5分走れば静かな自然があります。その対比に本当に驚きました。
私が特に好きだった１つが、どこに行っても眉山が見えることです。それは私の日々の生活の中で安らぎと思い出深いものとなりました。忘れることができないすばらしい友達と出会えたことに加えて、有名な阿波踊りも体験することが出来ました。徳島を象徴する貴重な行事でそのお祭りに観客として参加できて本当に感謝しています。
●Have you used the Culture Lounge while you are in TU? How did you like using Culture Lounge? / 徳島大学ではカルチャー・ラウンジは利用しましたか。また、利用してどうでしたか。
Yes, I often went to the Culture Lounge between classes to study or hang out with friends. It was a comfortable space to relax and focus. I do wish it were a bit livelier, though it would be great if it became a place where more students could meet and connect with each other.
はい、授業の間の勉強や友達と過ごすためによくカルチャーラウンジに行きました。リラックスしたり集中したりするのに快適な空間でした。もう少し活気があれば良いなと思います。もっと多くの学生に会って交流できる場所になれば素晴らしいと思います。
●How was your learning experience with courses at TU?／徳島大学での勉強（受講）はどうでしたか。
I really enjoyed both the Japanese language courses and the English-taught classes about Japanese culture, such as film and cultural studies. The professors were all very kind, approachable, and supportive, which made learning at TU a truly enjoyable and inspiring experience.
日本語の授業も映画や文化研究などの日本文化についての英語の授業も本当に楽しめました。先生方は皆さんとても親切で親しみやすくサポートしてくださり、徳島大学での学びは楽しく感動的な経験となりました。
●Are there any big differences with student life in Tokushima and the country where your university is? / 学生生活について、日本と自国では大きな違いがありますか。
When it comes to club activities and student circle, Lund does not have anything correspondence to that. You can use the club or circle that you would like to join during the exchange year, which is an important of student life in Japan, in my opinion.But when it comes to university events, Lund has more to offer which I wish Tokushima has.
課外活動や学生サークルにおいて、ルンド大学にはそれに対応するものはありません。交換留学中に参加したい部活やサークルを利用できるので、私の考えでは、それは日本の学生生活において重要だと思います。でも、大学イベントで言えば、ルンド大学がより沢山あるので徳島大学もあればいいなと思います。
●What experience gave you strongest impact during your stay in Japan or in Tokushima? / 日本（徳島）での生活で一番印象深いものは何ですか。
I think Awa odori is a precious memory that I will not forget.
阿波踊りが忘れることのない貴重な思い出です。
●What is your goal in the future?／将来の目標は何ですか。
My goal is to continue my higher education at my home university, building on everything I’ve learned during my time in Tokushima and in Japan. I want to use this experience to deepen my studies and keep growing both academically and personally.
私の目標は、徳島および日本いる間に学んだ全てのことを基礎に自国の大学での高等教育を続けることです。私はこの経験を活かして研究を深め、学術的にも個人的にも成長を続けたいです。
●Could you leave advice to students who want to study abroad from Tokushima or thinking of studying in Tokushima from your home school? / 留学を考えている学生に向けてアドバイスをお願いします。
If you’re thinking about studying abroad, go for it! Tokushima is a wonderful place to learn and live, where you can enjoy both the city atmosphere and the beauty of nature. Thanks to its location, it’s also easy to travel to other parts of Japan, like the Kansai region or Kyushu, and even take a trip around Shikoku! Studying in Tokushima is not only a great academic experience but also an amazing adventure you’ll never forget.
もし留学を考えているなら、ぜひ挑戦してください。徳島大学は町の雰囲気と美しい自然の両方を楽しむことができるので勉強するにも生活するにも素晴らしい場所です。そのロケーションのおかけで関西や九州など日本の他の場所にも旅行が行きやすく四国一周の旅もできます。徳島大学への留学は素晴らしい学術経験だけでなく、一生忘れることができない驚くべき冒険でもあります。
